Irish National 2008 Result

\"IrishThe 2008 race was a triumph for trainer, Mouse Morris, but a huge shock for the punters, when Hear the Echo came home when a 33/1 outsider. Ridden by Paddy Flood, Hear the Echo jumped perfectly over the 23 fences and took up the running when entering the straight he held off the brief challenge of 6/1 favourite, Royal County, with Timmy Murphy on board and won the race with plenty to spare. Notre Pere finished third, just ahead of A New Story.

The top weight and crowd favourite, Beef and Salmon struggled throughout the gruelling trip and although he got round, he finished last and was subsequently retired from racing. The winner had shown no form coming into the race and Morris seemed as surprised as everyone else when his horse won. He had shown useful form as a novice and had actually won a Grade 2, but since then his form had been dismal.

The race proved one thing though, it told punters that a Grand National of any type can be won by surprise horses so it is vital for those who are to take advantage of an Irish Grand National free bet, to study the form of the race beforehand.
