2009 Irish Grand National Result

The 2009 Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse was won in great style by English raider, Niche Market. He was brilliantly ridden by Harry Skelton and took the lead two fences from home and held off a stern challenge from Church Island. Trained by Bob Buckler, he eight year old went off at 33/1 and finished a couple of lengths clear at the post. Favourite for the race was Rare Bob who received considerable late support in the market, but could not force his way into the finish. He ended up fourth behind another 50/1 shot, A New Story. Ruby Walsh finished in fifth place on Pomme Tiepy.
